Ian Oldaker
V.X.S is led by Ian, who brings over 20 years of leadership with visitor experience start-ups in museums, civic projects, immersive experiential attractions, retail and special events. He has run nonprofit and for-profit ventures and worked with prominent Boards of Directors, entrepreneurial owners and government agencies.
His career began working behind the scenes in Off-Broadway theaters across New York City. He brought those production mgmt skills into museums and civic projects, starting with a decade of work at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Ian was part of the team that built and opened the 9/11 Memorial in 2011 and the Memorial Museum in 2014. He worked on a massive fundraising campaign and the launch of the operations for one of the most high-profile visitor experiences in the world. |
Ian also opened SPYSCAPE in NYC, a hi-tech immersive museum experience based on the world of espionage, that debuted in 2018 to rave reviews. Ian led the attraction's build and operations launch.
Now, living in western Pennsylvania, Ian is an Exec. Service Corp volunteer with the COVESTRO Center at Robert Morris Univ. and is on the Board of Throughline Theatre Co. and the Neighborhood North: Museum of Play. He is an active dog-parent and is obsessed with soccer (football) all over the globe. Ian has been responsible for strategic planning and complex project mgmt, revenue-creation for nonprofits and for-profits, building training programs, writing SOPs, creating info distribution campaigns, integrating operating systems and producing exhibitions and events. |
